Health isn't a Singular Method

Health isn't one singular method.

A supplement alone will not be enough to influence your body as a whole.

Hence, the term ‘holistic’ which refers to the system as a whole, rather than one singular piece or organism.

Which is why we must look at the big picture, the overview in our lives, to see where we are functioning at an optimal level, and where there is room for improvement.

I don’t know about you, but I would like to live my life to my fullest potential - meaning sustained energy levels, clarity of mind & focus, great digestion, restorative sleep, a highly functioning nervous system that can endure the hustle and bustle of this life while allowing for rest and relaxation, to be able to restore my system as a whole.

And it is actually easier than we think - We first have to make the decision to create more aligned habits that serve us.

Now I’m not your mother, but I do offer unsolicited advice for a living, so here goes…

  • Drink clean water, pop some electrolytes in there, preferably electrolytes without sugar (which means you can sneak in some more of your favourite choccie)

We are not perfect, we are human, and we have got to live too, right?!

  • Allow yourself to sit and do nothing, and I mean nothing, somewhere in nature helps, in the sun too. Let yourself just be, without any guilt - this might take time, but you're worth it. I believe they call this rest ;)

  • Practice systematic breathing - Breathing in, filling your belly, up to your chest, hold for 4 seconds and breathe out the mouth fully. Breath is SO underrated - but breathing deeply and consciously really assists the gut/lymphatic system, energy levels, stress levels & tension, as well as aiding to regulate the nervous system.

  • Try eating whole foods, yes - eat your vegetables, fruit and meat a couple of times a week (if meat is your thing, if not, then great - you do you boo)

  • Create a sleep routine - it's a way to trick the mind and body into winding down naturally. Soft lighting, salt lamps are great for this, perhaps a sleepy time essential oil, or a bedtime tea - create a routine that feels nourishing and serves you.

  • Move your wonderful body, stretch, jump, play, walk, do weights, run, laugh - join a class if you need support, go it alone if you want to process some internal complications. Exercise... In whatever form helps us to process our thoughts and emotions, because you guessed it, emotions are next on the chart.

  • Let’s talk emotions - most of us have never been taught how to feel our emotions, or that it is, in fact, safe to do so.

  • They actually shift and move once they have been felt and seen. They are designed to shift through us, it’s really just about acknowledgement & acceptance. Let’s face it- no one really wants to feel sad or angry or frustrated. Naturally, it’s uncomfortable, and we tend to want to push it away or stuff it down, but if we were to allow ourselves the time to accept them and allow them to flood through, then they are released - are they not?

  • My tip - (Queue more unsolicited advice)

  • Breathe through it, let yourself be seen, feel and acknowledge the emotions presenting themselves. It is a part of you experiencing this, and it will shift its way through and out of your body.

You are human, we are meant to feel the whole scale of emotions - but we are just not meant to hold onto them so tightly.

If experiencing trauma or stress that is ongoing - feel it, but also allow yourself to soften and have compassion for what you're going through.

Reach out to your people - your family & friends, help line or any organisation that can aid in supporting you, because sometimes it is not easy, but you do deserve to support yourself and be supported.

So there you have it, all the unsolicited advice you never knew you needed.
